A fine eight-day clock in its original oak case made in the 1780s by Thomas Mawkes of Derby, an excellent clockmaker formerly working under the celebrated John Whitehurst, then working independently from 1777 till his death in 1821. The dial is of the very earliest painted type and is superbly decorated with beautiful swags of flowers. Pictured after restoration. See article. SOLD.
